CHINTAPURNI DEVI

Tension or worries act as a slow poison. She is believed to save her devotees from it, giving elixir of life, fulfilling their desires. Hence known as ....... CHINTAPURANI. The sacred place belong to 'Chhinnmastika Devi ' i.e. the goddess without head. It is also know as the Abode of Chhinnamastila. But the most popular name is CHINTAPURANI, Some parts of the holy feet of Sati are said to be fallen here, while Lord Vishnu used His Sudarshan Chakra to cut the corpse into pieces. The Shrine of Chintapurniis situated in Una district of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. From New Delhi either one can travel via Chandigarh - Ropar - Una and Chintapurni or via Chandigarh - Ropar - Hoshiarpur - Una and Chintapurni. The buses for Chintapurni are available from Hoshiarpur. A two hour run from here leads a traveller to a place called Bharvain-very near to Chintapurni. The town is over-crowded during the festive periods of Ashtami and Navratras.
CHHINNNAMASTIKA
The goddess without head- according to the Hindu sriptures the goddess cut her head herself with a sword, to quench the thirst for food, for two of her counterparts (yoinies Ajay, Vijay) after the fierce battle with dreadful demons. The counterparts demanded more blood to drink.
